Let’s see now…..

I am still thinking of moving up north, although the longer it takes to get sorted the more doubts are starting to develop. I love the idea of living up north as it is beautiful countryside. However, I know I would miss my family, and friends. The main problem, as always, is a lack of money. I need over a grand to move, and being unemployed makes it hard to get that kind of money together. I am even considering getting a loan from one of those dodgy companies at 2000%!

I am still working at Age Concern here in Lowestoft, although it is starting to get too much – I have recently had to go in 5 days a week! This ‘must’ change soon, as I have paperwork to complete and websites to design. Talking of websites, I have managed – somehow – to convince myself to start up a new community website. It is a longterm project, and will take around 6 months before it is ready, but it will be a labour of love for me. That is, if I can ever get around to having the time to work on it!

One of my ‘friends’ appears to be causing a bit of trouble for me. We had a bit of an argument a few months ago, and I have been lying low to allow her time to calm down. Now it seems that between her and her mother, nasty rumours have been spread all amongst our MSN and Facebook friends. Without going into detail, they are very serious in nature, and earlier today I found out exactly what has been going on from a mutual friend of ours. I have spoken to this friend who has denied any involvement, and so now I am simply waiting to speak to her mother to get the ‘lowdown’. It is such a serious thing that I am considering getting the police involved, to try and put a stop to this before it gets even further out of hand. I like to think I am easy going, but this type of thing can ruin a persons reputation, and lose them friends.

I am currently half-sitting / half-lying in a strange bed, typing this on my laptop. I am house-sitting for a friend, looking after their cats. This would be a good idea if a) the cats liked me, and b) if the cats even deigned to acknowledge my existence! Aside from wandering down for their tea – which they turned their noses up at (!) – they have stayed resolutely upstairs in the spare bedroom. This rather frustrates me, as I pride myself on getting along with all animals. Still, always an exception to the rule…..

The past few days have been really busy at Age Concern, both with sorting out books and listing/selling 17 items on eBay. We sold a lovely brown poodle ornament to a dog lover for £31! And we had a huge book delivery in on Thursday – 18 boxes! There are another 4 auctions ending tonight, including a bag made of real goatskin!!

Today I did something that I am still unsure of whether was a good idea – today I posted off a small gift to my ex up in Yorkshire. I had bought it over a year ago and never sent it to her, and recently found it again. I did mention it to her a few days ago, just in case she didnt like the idea of me sending it to her, and she seemed OK with the idea. Should be delivered any day now, so I guess will find out soon what her reaction is. I’m still thinking of moving up to Yorkshire soon, in fact the main delay has been the age-old issue of money. I just don’t know if it is a ‘good’ idea.

I have been hard at work at trying to find paid work, and have applied for around 12 jobs in the past few days, from all over the country. The problem I am finding is that different recruitment agencies want your CV designed in different ways! I have Reeds telling me to do it one way, with Staffbank telling me to do it another way, and Jobcentre staff telling me a third way is best!! I think the best (as in silly hilarious) is that last night I spent 30 minutes typing up an online application to KFC for team member, only to be rejected automatically within 5 minutes after application! Of course, they dont give a reason, so you just end up feeling rejected… over and over again.

I have also been working hard at website design. All my own sites, so no money involved, but will mean – hopefully – that at some point they will start to make me money. Been working on the Greetland Games website, trying to install a forum. All looks OK, but there are around 9 different ‘small’ problems I need to fix such as date shown in American style instead of British etc. Last night I was working on a new support forum for my Cybertrax sites, which is coming along nicely apart from the category titles, which has the letters all jammed together overlapping! Other websites in the middle of redesign include Dazzax Website Design site, where I need to convert a standalone piece of software to work as part of the existing site. I asked the software designer for help – and his response was to ban me from his site! I have also started, but not got very far – with the new website for Trax Hosts the site hosting business. Once Dazzax and Trax Hosts are done, I will be listing auctions for these on eBay and eBid, to start making some proper money.

I have decided on the future of this site, my main blog at www.davidcattermole.com. As some of you know, this site is slowly falling apart due to bad site updates that messed up the site software. I have spent over a month trying to decide what to do about it; I could leave as-is, or reinstall WordPress, or find an alternative solution. There have been several issues, one that for some reason I have been unable to have photos and videos showing properly on WordPress software, and two that unlike before there has been no way for you – my beloved readers – to make comments etc. And so…. I have decided. Using new software, I shall over the next month or so design a completely new site. If all goes well, this will be a blog with a difference – truely web 2.0. I don’t wish to jinx it so will say no more for now.

I guess that’s it for now.
